The Anthology-series was first planned to consist of 10 90 minutes episodes, so there was a lot more to choose from than was aired. Sadly George Harrison vetoed this plan, since then number ten is 'karmically wrong'. (!)
With so much material available, why did George Martin have to include his new mixes of tracks on Apples Anthology albums instead of any of these tracks? Those new mixes had nothing to do with the Beatles.
Also included here are several of the Threetles tracks that they recorded as they were working on John's demo's. I've not found these elsewhere.
I only found two tracks that are commercially released. (My Bonnie/Ain't She Sweet) from Polydor. They should be easy to get a hold of elsewhere. Yer Blues is from the Rock'n'Roll Circus, but here is a different shorter version than the one on the Stones CD so I have included it.
One of the best compilations of demos, outtakes and live material left off the official Anthology CD's. Nothing new for serious collectors, but makes a great gift for less serious collectors. Anyone of these tracks could have made Anthology #1, #2 & #3, the best of the rest so to speak. Since the best sources available were used, sound quality is generally excellent. These CD's would make a good launching point for a beginner or a casual fan.
